#time-lapse

looks like either the timer needs a little work or i’ll have to shoot more frames so it rotates a little smoother

this is rendered as a cross-eyed 3d image (cross your eyes so your left eye is looking at the right image and your right eye is looking at the left image.. slowly uncross your eyes until you see a third 3d image appear in between the left and right images. it’s easier with a larger image: maximize the window and reload the page. you may have to adjust how far from the screen you sit)

decided to head north from where I slept at Lake Apopka to the Ocala National Forest and Palatka.. leaving the parking lot at Ravine State Gardens where I worked, and heading toward Crescent Beach on the east coast.. drove a little south to a spot just south of Marineland:

went for drive in the country in my new truck.. ended up past rockford!

riding the metra from chicago back to elgin

biking up the trail from joe’s [turning around at a fallen tree]

clouds passing by above my car at kenyon farm forest preserve..

It feels great to be alive. I just feel this beautiful energy running in me. It’s a little excitement, it’s a little love, it’s a little indescribable. It’s from an amazing weekend! Friday night went to the Kirtan concert, Saturday went to a Bodhi then hung out with Matt, Meredith, Maggie, and Amira, and then rode my bike to shoot this time-lapse at a spot Maggie suggested at the end of North Avenue Beach (somehow I never knew about this [...]

Here are a couple shots off the roof of Joe’s building..

An infrared shot out Matt’s office window..

Had dinner with my friend Bethany at Frenchy’s Salt Water Cafe..

Going to Rockford Airport.. I love the feel of a small airport that you can easily park and get to to terminal in practically no time.. Also being in a more rural area is so nice to feel nature around you.. this was much more relaxing than going to O’Hare or Midway.. Here’s the ride back from St. Peterburg / Clearwater Airport.. there was such a great energy in the air.. it felt like it had just rained and all […]

sunset from Joe’s roof deck..

riding with Joe..

I drove into the city to see my friend Erin who I hadn’t seen in years.. Decided to take Chicago Street / Irving Park Road the whole way down to the lake to create the first part of this fisheye time-lapse shot.. the second part of the shot is driving downtown to find a spot for a 360 degree time-lapse (that I still have to process) and the drive back to Elgin on the interstate (where the camera/clamp fell off […]

Watched the sunset from Dunedin Causeway and read a little more of I: Reality and Subjectivity before going to see the late showing of I AM the documentary..

Stopped by the Mobbly Bayou Preserve in Oldsmar on the way back from seeing my friends Mark & Colleen..

Here’s a shot of the lanai..

trying out the gopro chest mount on a bike ride..

a second successful flight with the camera.. [battery wasn’t charged so this one’s short, and the wind was pulling really hard so i only let out somewhere around half the line i’d guess — on the time-lapse yesterday, i let out the whole 500 feet of line minus what i needed to anchor it down]

this is rendered as a cross-eyed 3d image (cross your eyes so your left eye is looking at the right image and your right eye is looking at the left image.. slowly uncross your eyes until you see a third 3d image appear in between the left and right images. it’s easier with a larger image: maximize the window and reload the page. you may have to adjust how far from the screen you sit)

driving to the ‘large green patch’ on Google Maps..

..and first time-lapse shot from the roof:

went for a drive north, ended up in Buffalo Park Forest Preserve.. at first it seemed just like an ordinary park, though after relaxing a bit, I began to feel connected to nature and the energy there. I spent a good little bit of time photographing and exploring [will process and upload these images sometime soon].. then decided to drive up to the top of one of the garages in Elgin afterwards [which was a little nerve-racking as despite the […]

Here are the demo reels I quickly threw together the other day for the new gallery grid home page [and the links to all the HD full length videos I used]..

biked to the garage across from the townhome development here

had a feeling there’d be some interesting light out.. and I almost didn’t go out to experience it! by the time I went out to see it, I felt it was too late to set up a ‘normal’ time-lapse and I had gotten a little tired of shooting so many of those lately.. I grabbed the 12mm lens and started shooting.. after experiencing the beautiful light for a while and taking shots in many directions, I felt inspired to put […]

out the window at Kevin’s apartment in Logan Square..

I drove over to Kenyon Farms County Forest Preserve today.. here’s a short shot riding with Joe over to Al’s Cafe in downtown Elgin.. We learned a little history about Elgin from our waiter.. apparently there are underground tunnels downtown with the old storefronts from before the road was raised..

another day working at joe’s.. this is what it looks like out the front door, next to my computer desk here..

Here’s a view of the late afternoon / sunset during my cousin Stephen’s wedding.. After a couple/few overcast and rainy days, the skies opened up earlier in the day..

Driving over to see my friends Kevin and Jon in Logan Square..

another time-lapse riding with Joe..

clouds passing by and sunset from Joe’s roof..

The view from where I work at Joe’s office..

here’s a reverse little planet, a stereographic tunnel.. some stitching errors are visible in this one (the wind was blowing constantly and was pretty strong so the clouds in the last shot were in a different position in the sky than in the first shot and couldn’t align properly) here’s the first take on the top shot (before I decided to slow the frame rate down to compensate for the wind)..

and another perspective..

and another shot as the little planet fades out..

why do we choose to suffer? all suffering really is by choice. as i was adding old photos to my website, i came across some old photos of myself though much younger. in some shots, i looked so innocent, so happy. i hadn’t created the depression for myself yet. it truly was all created. i chose to believe certain things about my experiences and others’ experiences and basically told myself i couldn’t be happy unless _____. so i kept striving […]

Decided to go over to Howard Park today to merge two photo techniques together.. long exposures (in daylight) and time-lapse photography.. interesting results.. I remember trying these two techniques over 4 years ago though my memory card dying on me.. this will be interesting to do with different subjects where there is more motion… and I’d like to shoot one in the middle of the day.. Photography techniques are a bit like cooking.. you have these different components and you […]

a success! looks like little to no real damage was sustained last week.. saw lightning developing in that big cloud.. here’s my first use of the gopro suction cup mount on the ride back trying to catch some bolts in the shot [though only getting a little intra-cloud lightning]

Perseverance. If at first you don’t succeed, you try again. [and again, and again, and again, and as many times as you must — if need be] Challenges, lessons, doubts, secondaries can arise. Embrace them, for they are merely a part of the journey. Sometimes they make for a much more intersting story! :) Keep on going, and you will get to where you want to be.

Here’s my first successful flight in kite aerial photography. Yes, the camera angle is a little off as the picavet wasn’t hanging properly, yet I consider it a success. I like the shot below [one random one out of the 2400+ as I was looking for a few samples to edit the colors with] — and I didn’t expect the truck/camper to be in the shot at all! Expect the unexpected, and embrace what you do discover! Life is brilliant that way! It truly is amazing! Let life shine brightly and you’ll enjoy it that much more!

It’s funny, sometimes you [almost] have to forget where you’re going in order to get there! My friend Saren called last night [I type this the morning after the flight as the time-lapse files are still processing] unexpectedly and we both [seem to have] had experiences of that happening recently! It becomes part of your every day experience and it’s fun to watch!

just got the camera and kite today, excited to attempt kite aerial photography! i came across some videos and the idea of putting the gopro camera on a kite just last week.. did a bunch of research, placed some orders, and now i’ve got all the pieces to make it happen! i did get the kite pretty decently high in the air in the beginning, though unfortunately the wind started to die down when i was placing the camera on […]

in / near the Holey Land Wildlife Management Area and Stormwater Treatment Areas (a few miles west of U.S. Hwy 27, between Lake Okeechobee and Alligator Alley)

[this one’s at a different spot as the night before i tried to help pull a guy’s truck out of the sand/water – his back end was in the bay! i got to try 4 low on my truck, though the rope we found wasn’t strong enough so he had a tow truck pull him out with a cable]

it was beautiful to wake up in the middle of the night to nothing but the continuous sound of the waves of the atlantic ocean crashing into the beach

i thought of driving to lake geneva on the weekend though the forecast called for rain, so i decided to take a break from work and go for a ride while it was still partly sunny..

biked over to kenyon farm forest preserve..

biking to the bank to deposit the check carmax gave me for my civic

biking over at poplar creek forest preserve..

went to read at the park across the street from joe’s..

Driving back to Elgin after staying at my friend Matt’s in Chicago for the weekend.. We attended the Bodhi Spiritual Center over in Lincoln Park.

I was ready early so took a drive through the country on the way to St. Petersburg / Clearwater airport.. I was gonna go to a park right near Rockford airport after I arrived back though didn’t find it easily so decided to take the country roads back to Elgin.. the land is nice and open just a couple miles west of Elgin.. (yes, the camera battery died in the middle of this shot)

Clouds passing over the pool deck while working..

riding with Joe to another business meeting..

view of clouds passing by from Joe’s balcony and then going for a ride with Joe..

riding with Joe to a meeting..

Another experiment with a daylight long exposure time-lapse.. exposures easily get into minutes after the sun drops! A couple other more ‘normal’ time-lapses..

Biked over to Lansbrook Park after dinner (yes sounds like a routine sometimes! if I end up working all day and sundown is approaching, I hop on my bike and take the 2 mile journey over there)
