A collection of books

.........................................................

I saw my friend Angela the other day on the journey back home from down south. It’d been a few years.. during our conversation, spiritual concepts came up and I told her I’d send her some book recommendations by Wayne Dyer and others. It got me thinking of making a list of all the (physical) books currently in my library. I’ve been wanting to make this list since before the summer though got so busy back then with going to Chicagoland and working. Anyhow, here’s what I found.. (if you decide to order any books, please use these special links as they help support this site: Amazon or Hay House)

Most of what I’ve learned from Dr. Wayne W. Dyer has been through his audio programs, though I do have a few of his books. Here are the ones I’ve read:

  • Living the Wisdom of the Tao: The Complete Tao Te Ching and Affirmations
  • Being in Balance: 9 Principles for Creating Habits to Match Your Desires
  • 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace

I’ve listened to this one as an audiobook:

  • Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling

This one is more of a collection of daily affirmations/suggestions:

  • The Invisible Force: 365 Ways to Apply the Power of Intention to Your Life

I also have these books by Wayne Dyer though haven’t read them yet (I did start Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life last year or the year before last):

  • Change Your Thoughts – Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao
  • Excuses Begone!: How to Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits
  • The Power of Intention: Learning to Co-create Your World Your Way (gift edition)

Wayne Dyer talks about Dr. Hawkin’s kinesiological work in Power vs. Force, and demonstrates the weakening/strengthening effect of various thoughts/items in some of his lectures. I also highly recommend reading these books by David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D. in the order listed here:

  • Power vs. Force: The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior
  • The Eye of the I: From Which Nothing Is Hidden
  • I: Reality and Subjectivity

I haven’t read this book yet though have listened to Louise Hay (and saw her and Wayne Dyer in person recently at the Hay House I Can Do It Conference in Tampa). She works a lot with affirmations. This book has a list of problems (a lot of physical issues in life), the probable causes and new thought patterns to heal them. I recommend this book and any work by Louise L. Hay:

  • You Can Heal Your Life (gift edition)

A few years back when I was attempting to start business, a friend / business partner, Mark, was talking about spirituality and I became curious about some of the things he was talking about. One was Conversations with God. He lent me the first book and later the second book. I eventually bought all three books in one volume. I recommend this by Neale Donald Walsch:

  • The Complete Conversations with God: an uncommon dialogue

These books by Don Miguel Ruiz also helped me expand my perspective (these are in order), and I recommend these:

  • The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom
  • The Mastery of Love: A Practical Guide to the Art of Relationship
  • The Voice of Knowledge: A Practical Guide to Inner Peace

This is a pretty popular book book by Eckhart Tolle:

  • The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

I read this book by Marianne Williamson earlier this year after getting her cards:

  • A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course In Miracles
  • Miracle Cards (Revised Edition!)

This is a great novel by Paulo Coelho suggested to me by my friend Larry earlier this year:

  • The Alchemist

I read most of this book by Ram Daas earlier this year or a year ago or so:

  • Remember, Be Here Now

Earlier last year, I read this book by Stuart Wilde:

  • The Three Keys to Self-Empowerment

A little over a year ago I began reading this book of dialogues by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. It’s currently in my truck to continue reading at some point. In his audio programs Dr. Wayne Dyer says just carrying this book with you will raise your consciousness – you don’t even have to open it up! Nisargadatta Maharaj does calibrate highly as a spiritual teacher (read Power vs Force by Dr. Hawkins (above) for calibrating spiritual teachers):

  • I Am That: Talks with Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

I began reading this book by Carlos Castenada earlier this year before going to Chicagoland. Wayne Dyer had a moment of Satori (instant enlightenment) when reading it. It’s in my camper now to finish reading soon:

  • The Active Side of Infinity

I haven’t read it yet though Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, and others speak about ACIM by Dr. Helen Schucman, published by the Foundation for Inner Peace:

  • A Course in Miracles (combined volume)

I began reading this book by David Viscott, M.D. last year, though realized I no longer needed the book after completing the Avatar Course (as some of the Avatar tools experientially do what the book is talking about doing):

  • Emotional Resilience: Simple Truths for Dealing with the Unfinished Business of Your Past

Reading any of the above books will open your eyes, mind, and heart to new perspectives. I recommend whichever one or ones feel right to you (in this moment). We all are on different paths, and though all the books are really talking about the same thing, they all come from slightly different vantage points. Whichever you choose will be right for where you are now. As your point along the journey shifts, so will what you encounter in life (and what you are drawn to). Listen to your heart, and allow your inner guidance to choose what it knows will serve you best.

If you feel you are at the point where you want to begin to experience change in your life, you really need to do exactly that: experience it. Reading it will begin to open your mind to new ideas, though true change occurs in the heart where it is felt by experience. Contact me for a free intro to the Avatar Course, where you will explore your own consciousness experientially with the exercises/tools. You can also read the following books by Harry Palmer to learn a little more about Avatar (though you really must do the exercises/course to fully understand):

  • Living Deliberately: The Discovery and Development of Avatar
  • Resurfacing: Techniques for Exploring Consciousness
  • The Avatar Path: The Way We Came

Here’s another book I began reading (earlier last year I believe) but never finished. I think I saw it (or a quote from it) on my friend Thaneeya’s facebook page. It’s by Matthieu Ricard:

  • Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life’s Most Important Skill
